2. What kind of information do we collect?
Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).
We collect a variety of information about visitors to our websites. This personal data falls into different categories:
- Identity data includes title, first name, last name. If you interact with us through social media, this may include your social media username.
- Contact data includes billing address (for online payment), email address and telephone numbers.
- Transaction Data includes details about orders you have made on our websites. We use a third-party service (SagePay) for payment processing (e.g. payment processor/ gateway). We do not store or collect your payment card details.
- Profile data includes purchases or orders made by you, preferences, feedback and survey responses, as well as any profile data which we have added (for example, using analytics).
- Tracking data includes information we or others collect about you from cookies and similar tracking technologies, such as web beacons, pixels, and mobile identifiers.
- Marketing and communications data includes your preferences in receiving newsletters and marketing from us and your communication preferences, it also includes any comments that you might leave on our websites.
What this means
This means if you register or sign up for events, newsletters or publications on the site, we may ask you for personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, occupation and other contact details.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

3. What do we do with the information we collect?
We will use your personal information to operate the website, to send you newsletters, publications and other information about TIHR, our partners and activities, and to process applications and orders you make via the websites (if you have consented to this). We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. We may also use your information to carry out analysis and research to improve our publications, events and activities, to prevent and detect fraud and abuse, and to protect other users.
We use third-party platforms and processors to deliver newsletters (Campaign Monitor), process applications (Google Forms), event registrations (Eventbrite), process payments (SagePay), process surveys (Survey Monkey), and process any request to update your data contact preferences. In using these third parties we are pursuing our legitimate interest to use third-party technology to achieve greater efficiency within our organisation. To balance our interests against yours, we have taken steps to ensure these third parties maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your personal information secure.

Social media, blogs, reviews
Any social media posts or comments you send to us (on the TIHR Facebook page, for instance) will be shared under the terms of the relevant social media platform (e.g. Facebook / Twitter) on which they are written and could be made public. Other people, not us, control these platforms. We are not responsible for this kind of sharing. We recommend you review the terms and conditions and privacy policies of the social media platforms you use. That way, you will understand how they will use your information, what information relating to you they will place in the public domain, and how you can stop them from doing so if you are unhappy about it.
Any blog, review or other posts or comments you make about us, our products and services on any of our blogs, reviews or user community services will be shared with all other members of that service and the public at large. Any comments you make on these services and on social media, in general, must be not offensive, insulting or defamatory. You are responsible for ensuring that any comments you make comply with any relevant policy on acceptable use of those services.
4. How long will we keep your information for?
Personal information that you have submitted via our websites will only be kept for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which you gave us the information and we will securely delete information when it is no longer needed for that purpose.
Posts and comments: any information that you post on our websites shall only be kept and displayed for such time as the subject matter to which is relates is publicly displayed.
We store analytics records for 38 months.

If you no longer want to receive communication from us, please click the unsubscribe link on any email from us or, where available, change the preferences on your account.
If you have consented to receive details of services, events and training you can contact us at any time to have your details removed from lists used by us for any or all of those purposes. You can do this either by emailing us at email@example.com or clicking the link on any email from us to unsubscribe or update your preferences.
5. Access to your Information

Please quote your name and email address. We would be grateful if could also provide brief details of what information you want a copy of (this helps us to more readily locate your data). We will take all reasonable steps to confirm your identity before providing you with details of any personal information we may hold about you.
If our information is incorrect or out of date, please provide us with information to update it. If you want us to delete, restrict or stop using any information we hold about you, please explain the reasons why you are asking this. If you are unhappy with how we are using your information, again please explain to us the reasons and we will investigate the matter.
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
